Commercial Office Interiors Merges with Silicon Valley Powerhouse InsideSource

Seattle, WA (January 30, 2017) – Commercial Office Interiors has merged with Silicon Valley-based workplace consultants and office furniture products powerhouse InsideSource.

The combined company will continue to operate from its location at 2601 4th Avenue in Seattle and retain all Commercial Office Interiors (COI) employees including local leadership. Terms of the new business formation were not disclosed. The Seattle office will do business as Commercial Office Interiors, an InsideSource Company. Dozens of InsideSource clients in the San Francisco Bay Area – many of them technology firms, have satellite operations in the Puget Sound area.

The Puget Sound Business Journal ranked Commercial Office Interiors as the fourth largest office furniture dealer in the region for 2015 with $38 million in sales and 38 employees. The most recent San Jose Business Journal Book of Lists puts the InsideSource as the second largest commercial office furniture dealer in Silicon Valley. The firm expects 2016 revenue to be $112 million. InsideSource was co-founded by President Dave Denny in 1991.

InsideSource’s expansion into Seattle follows its 2014 growth into San Francisco with the merger of Young Office and the 2015 opening in San Jose. Combined, InsideSource now has approximately 200 employees in sales, management, administration, design services, project management and operations. The company is headquartered at 985 Industrial Road in San Carlos. San Carlos is on the San Francisco Peninsula mid-way between San Francisco and San Jose.

Both companies are established Allsteel dealers.  Allsteel is an operating company of HNI, a leading global provider and designer of office furniture, providing products and solutions for workplace environments.

COI Furnishes the office of the future

More of our clients are providing user adjustable features to the work stations. Height adjustable bases, mobile storage units, and ergonomic tools like monitor arms and keyboard trays allow employees to easily reconfigure their space to meet their personal work styles. RealNetworks moves into their new home

RealNetworks has a new place to call home — one that employees say has revitalized the 18-year-old Seattle tech company. RealNetworks just moved into the top three floors of Home Plate Center, a newly-constructed building in Seattle’s SoDo neighborhood. The space offers some amazing panoramic views of the city’s skyline and is just a stone’s throw away from Safeco Field, home of the city’s professional baseball team. And the new space has beautiful furniture specified by SkB Architects and provided by COI.

COI helps Western Washington University develop a space to inspire students and the community

Western Today, WWU’s campus newspaper, reports that the Learning Commons partners in the Western Libraries at Western Washington University are working to create and develop a space where everyone feels welcome. COI provided Allsteel Clarity seating, Allsteel Relate stools, Integra soft seating and a plethora of other pieces to help make the space warm, inviting, and collaborative. This comfortable meeting space is set up in Wilson Library 265 (aka the TLA Living Room), next to the Info Desk, that includes a teaching and learning print collection that can be reserved for meetings with individual students or small groups.

Tableau creates new launchpad for growth

COI is excited to have helped furnish the growth of a Seattle tech company's recent expansion. Seattle-based "Tableau sets the table for Austin growth," an Austin Business Journal article exclaims. 

This summer Seattle-based Tableau garnered attention on Wall Street when their IPO netted the company $254 million (NYSE: DATA). Tech IPO's haven't garnered much positive attention lately but Tableau bucked the trend by exercising a different corporate philosophy and imbuing the company with  and "disruptive points of view."  Born with company founders that include a couple visionaries out of Stanford and the mind behind Pixar, Tableau has been making the complicated understandable to ordinary people through innovative product design. Tableau decided that the talent pool and "soul" of Austin were ideal for their next stage of expansion and they entrusted COI to help them furnish their new Texas home. COI was honored to help Tableau create a space that would promote a sense of exploration and adventure, incorporate the soul and character of Austin, and would ultimately help them reach their goal of tripling their 50 person workforce in the next couple years. As Brett Thompson, Tableau’s vice president of human resources said, “We wanted a variety of viewpoints that clearly imply that we’re in Austin, not New York City."
